Hero: Charles DeTulleo Sr.

In memory of Officer Charles DeTulleo Sr.

Veteran Eddystone Police Officer Charles DeTulleo Sr. suffered a fatal heart attack while he and a fellow officer were chasing a hit-and-run driver on Aug. 24, 1957. He was 43.

DeTulleo collapsed at Fourth Street and the Industrial Highway in Lester as he sought help from a passing Chester motorist. He was dead on arrival at Taylor Hospital at 1:30 a.m. He's buried in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Linwood.

He was both a Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp. officer and Ridley officer before joining the Eddystone force in 1954.

He was married and the father of a 14-year-old son.
