In memory of Officer Horace Callaghan

Prospect Park Police Officer Horace Callaghan, 58. was struck by a drunken driver on December 21,1940.

The 15 year police veteran was directing traffic around the scene of a previous three car crash on Chester Pike,near Stuart Avenue in Ridley Park. Callaghan was standing in the middle of the pike directing traffic with a red hand lantern when he was struck.

Callaghan, was especially loved by local school children whom he'd help to cross the street, was married and had three children.
