In memory of Chief of Police Andrew J Clothier Jr.Chief of Police Andrew J. Clothier Jr., 44, died November 4th, 1935, from injuries suffered when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Chester Pike and West Winona Avenue.
The driver of the other vehicle was arrested but was later released after the jury found that there was no criminal intent.
A member of the Norwood Police Department for five years and the Chief for three, was buried with full military honors. A double firing squad fired a volley over his grave in Calvery Cemetery and a lone buglar sounded taps.
Chief Clothier had been with the agency for five years and was survived by his wife.
