In memory of Officer Blair McGovern
With only two months on the job, Glenolden Police Officer Blair McGovern, also known as Grover M. Blosser, died of single gunshot wound on May 10, 1922. He was 28.
On foot patrol, McGovern was talking to friends on Chester Pike when a speeding car passed them and then stopped suddenly.
As the officer approached the car, five shots were fired from a revolver by an occupant. McGovern's head struck the car's running board as he fell forward with a fatal chest wound.
The car fled toward Darby.
